About two-thirds of employees expressed a degree of confidence in their ability to live comfortably during their retirement years, according to the recently published 2025 EBRI/Greenwald Retirement Confidence Survey conducted by the Employee Benefits Research Institute and Greenwald Research from Jan. 2 through Feb. 3. Nearly a quarter of the respondents said they were very confident, and 42% were somewhat confident.
Many employees confident about living a comfortable retirement
Saving and investment balances differed widely among employees with and without retirement plans. More than 6 out of 10 without a retirement plan had less than $1,000 in total savings. At the other end of the spectrum, 46% of those with a retirement plan had at least $250,000 in savings and investments, and another 16% had between $100,000 and $249,999.
