The Internal Revenue Service has raised the annual contribution limit to a health savings account to $4,300 for an individual and $8,550 for a family for the 2025 calendar year.
The current limit is $4,150 for an individual and $8,300 for a family.
HSAs are available only to people with a high-deductible health plan, which the IRS defines for 2025 as a plan with an annual deductible that is not less than $1,650 for self-only coverage or $3,300 for family coverage. The corresponding 2024 numbers are $1,600 and $3,200.
The IRS also says annual out-of-pocket expenses (deductibles, co-payments and other amounts, but not premiums) for a high-deductible health plan cannot exceed $8,300 for single coverage or $16,600 for family coverage in 2025. The corresponding 2024 numbers are $8,050 and $16,100.
