The in-house manager of the world's largest sovereign wealth fund is hoping a sports psychologist will help power the performance of its workforce.
Norges Bank Investment Management, which runs the 10.91 trillion Norwegian kroner ($1.28 trillion) Government Pension Fund Global, Oslo, hired Anders Meland to further develop the firm's performance culture, a spokeswoman said.
"Performance is a key priority for the fund," she added.
Mr. Meland is head engineer for the Department of Sport and Social Sciences at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences.
Nicolai Tangen, CEO of NBIM, said in a post on his LinkedIn page that Mr. Meland will work with NBIM "to improve the way we work and help us strengthen mental resilience. When the focus is more on the investment process than on the end result, it is easier to go back and analyse your mistakes in a structured way."
