A U.K. pension fund has launched a webinar program to help its participants and families deal with the issues related to the coronavirus pandemic.
The £3 billion ($3.7 billion) Merchant Navy Officers Pension Scheme, Surrey, England, will run 13 well-being webinars over the coming weeks, addressing self-isolation, nutrition, sleep, mental health and other issues. The webinars will be recorded and available at any time to the scheme's 30,000 participants and their families over the next 12 months. The initiative was developed in association with well-being and health specialist Wellbeing People Ltd.
Webinars will be between one hour and 90 minutes long.
"These are extraordinary times with every section of society facing its own challenges," said Rory Murphy, chairman of the scheme's trustees, in a statement. "As a pension fund, we believe that we have a responsibility not only to ensure that pensions are paid, but also to reach out and provide support to our pensioner members so that they can maintain good physical and mental health. Our weekly webinars, provided by Wellbeing People, will do this," Mr. Murphy said.
