Several money management executives joined the Global Top 100 Executive Allies initiative, which LGBT Great launched to recognize investment and savings professionals from across the world for their contribution to workplace diversity.
Among senior leaders who made the list of influencers this year were Anne Richards, CEO of Fidelity International; Martine Ferland, president and CEO of Mercer and vice chairwoman of parent company Marsh & McLennan Cos.; Romina Savova, CEO of technology platform PensionBee Ltd.; and Amy Cho, CEO for Hong Kong and head of intermediary Asia-Pacific at Schroders PLC.
More than 300 global industry executives were nominated by employees and peers at their firms in an appreciation of their self-discovery, empathy, courage, responsibility and persistence toward equality and inclusion of LGBTQ professionals.
These supporters of the LGBTQ community showed commitment to future action around LGBTQ issues and pledged support to self-education. "In recent years, a spotlight on the investment industry's diversity and inclusion agenda has exposed many shortcomings, and nowhere is this more apparent than on LGBT(Q) issues," said Matthew J. Cameron, managing director of LGBT Great, an organization that launched the Global Top 100 Executive Allies initiative, in a news release.
Mr. Cameron noted that 3% of the investment industry's workforce identifies as LGBTQ as compared with the global population equivalent of 10%.
