Goldman Sachs CEO David M. Solomon appeared in a cameo on the Showtime cable television drama "Billions," which aired June 14.
The drama, currently in its fifth season on the ViacomCBS-owned network, features Damian Lewis as hedge fund manager Bobby "Axe" Axelrod and Paul Giamatti as his nemesis, Attorney General Chuck Rhodes.
Since its debut in January 2016, the series has taken advantage of its fictional standing in the New York-based financial services industry, featuring numerous cameos by notable figures such as Mark Cuban, Marc Lasry and Omeed Malik.
Mr. Solomon's cameo saw him drinking champagne at a party thrown by Axe catered by celebrity chef Maria Giuliana. Axe greets Mr. Solomon as "DJ D-Sol," an insider reference to Mr. Solomon's side gig, and stage-whispers an offer to buy Goldman Sachs' Marcus bank.
Mr. Solomon diplomatically states: "I'm really sorry, but Marcus isn't for sale at any price."
The day after Mr. Solomon's cameo, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. stock closed at $206.31, up 2.2% from the previous day.
Goldman Sachs spokesman Patrick Scanlan and Showtime spokeswoman Amanda Cary did not reply to requests for comment.
