State of Wisconsin Investment Board, Madison, owned about 6 million shares of iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, a bitcoin exchange-traded fund, valued at about $321 million as of Dec. 31, according to SWIB’s 13F holdings report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, which trades on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol IBIT, is managed by BlackRock and has about $56.3 billion in net assets, according to the iShares website.
IBIT seeks to “reflect generally the performance of the price of bitcoin,” the iShares website said.
Year-to-date through Feb. 13, IBIT has delivered a total return of 2.5%.
SWIB oversees a total of $166.4 billion in state assets, including the $131.5 billion Wisconsin Retirement System core trust fund.
BlackRock has $11.6 trillion in assets under management.
