Ryan O'Connor has been named chief executive officer of Global X Management Co., a New York-based provider of exchange-traded funds, effective April 8.
O'Connor will be responsible for "driving the firm's strategy, reinvigorating its product suite" and leading Global X into a "new, growth-focused era," said a news release Feb. 20.
O'Connor replaces Luis Berruga, who stepped down as CEO of Global X in November.
O'Connor previously was global head of ETF product at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
"We have a strong bench within the ETF team, and we will replace Ryan's role," a GSAM spokesperson said. "Alyson Shupe joined Goldman Sachs Asset Management as a managing director in December 2023 to lead the global product strategy group. As part of this role, Alyson partners with stakeholders throughout the organization to enhance product governance, form alignment across prioritization and messaging, and help drive scale and consistency across our platform."
Global X, which has about $43 billion in assets under management, is a unit of South Korean-based Mirae Asset Financial Group, which has more than $550 billion in assets under management.
Global X could not be immediately reached for more details.
