Institutional Shareholder Services agreed to acquire Stockholm-based corporate governance and stewardship advisory firm Nordic Investor Services, a spokeswoman said.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The transaction boosts ISS' presence in the Nordics and adds a proxy voting service in the region.
"This transaction reflects our abiding commitment to clients to continue to deliver world-class corporate governance and voting solutions that now, more than ever, serve as the bedrock for successful capital stewardship programs," Lorraine Kelly, global head of ISS' governance business, said in a news release Thursday.
Helena Levander, founder and chairwoman at Nordic Investor Services, added in the release: "The entire NIS team and I are excited to join with ISS in furtherance of providing our clients and the broader Nordic institutional investor community with expanded portfolio coverage, world-class data, and cutting-edge technology that will enhance and support their stewardship programs."
Further details about deal, including from whom the firm was acquired, could not immediately be learned.
