Pierin Menzli was appointed CIO of thematic equities at HSBC Asset Management, the firm said in a news release Friday.
Mr. Pierin joined on Sept. 30 and is based in Switzerland, reporting to Vis Nayar, global CIO, equities.
It is a new position, and Mr. Menzli's group will be developing new thematic investment solutions, HSBC AM said in the release.
Mr. Pierin was head of thematic equities for Bank J. Safra Sarasin in Zurich for nine years. He was also a founding partner of Contrast Capital, an independent consultancy in sustainable finance where he continues to serve as a strategic adviser, according to his LinkedIn profile. An email to Bank J. Safra Sarasin for information on his replacement was not returned immediately.
His expertise in sustainability and thematic investing "will be valuable to our growth, especially in the fast-growing segment of thematic equities," Mr. Navar said in the release.
