Partnering with Nasdaq on an index that tracks companies engaged in climate technology, HSBC Asset Management launched a climate tech ETF on the London Stock Exchange Oct. 13.
In January, Nasdaq and the Consumer Technology Association launched the Nasdaq CTA Global Climate Technology index. The index covers key technologies addressing climate risk and the energy transition, including power sources, power storage, infrastructure, agriculture and food technology, adaptation, and fossil-free transportation.
Thematic ETFs like the HSBC Nasdaq Global Climate Tech UCITS ETF "present an exciting way for investors to build climate tech exposure into their portfolios and access this crucial theme," said Olga de Tapia, global head of ETF & Indexing Sales for HSBC Asset Management, in a news release.
The Nasdaq index methodologies align with global regulatory frameworks focused on advancing sustainability, said Cameron Lilja, vice president and head of index product and operations at Nasdaq, in the release.
