Michael Herskovich was appointed global head of stewardship at BNP Paribas Asset Management, a spokesman said.
Mr. Herskovich will replace global head of stewardship and policy Helena Vines Fiestas.
Ms. Vines Fiestas was named as a board member of the Spanish financial services regulator Comision Nacional del Mercado de Valores effective May 1.
Mr. Herskovich will lead the firm's global stewardship team starting in April, reporting to Jane Ambachtsheer, global head of sustainability.
"Michael is a long-standing expert in the field of stewardship, with strong relationships in the industry. He has been instrumental in the development of our ambitious approach to corporate governance and this new role reflects his expertise and ambition in terms of stewardship activity," Ms. Ambachtsheer said in a news release Wednesday.
Mr. Herskovich has been global head of corporate governance since 2009 and was responsible for stewardship policy, proxy voting, engagement and corporate governance analysis. Details of his replacement are not yet known, the spokesman said.
