The endowment of Yale University posted a net return of 5.7% for the fiscal year ended June 30.
The endowment of Yale University, New Haven, Conn., posted a net return of 5.7% for the fiscal year ended June 30, bringing assets to $30.3 billion.
The university announced Friday that the endowment returned an annualized net 11.1% and 11.4% for the respective 10- and 20-year periods ended June 30. For the previous fiscal year, the endowment returned a net 12.3%.
For the 10-year period, venture capital returned an annualized 20% for the endowment, followed by leveraged buyouts at 16.1%, international equities at 16%, domestic equities at 15.5%, real estate at 8%, absolute return at 6.4% and natural resources at 5.7%.
Annual returns by asset class were not provided.
The endowment's targets are: 23% for absolute return; 21.5% for venture capital; 16.5%, leveraged buyouts; 13.75%, international equities; 10%, real estate; 7%, fixed income/cash; 5.5%, natural resources; and 2.75%, domestic equities.
