Timothy M. Donohue was named chief investment officer of Kamehameha Schools, the Honolulu-based institute announced.
Effective Oct. 21, he will replace Elizabeth Hokada, who is retiring.
Mr. Donohue will oversee the schools' $8.2 billion endowment.
Mr. Donohue was CIO at Columbia Investment Management Co. in New York, where he oversaw Columbia University's $11 billion endowment. University spokesman Robert Hornsby declined to comment on replacement plans.
