Washington University in St. Louis reported that its $13.2 billion managed endowment pool returned a net 8.7% for the fiscal year ended June 30 in an endowment fact sheet posted on its website.
A benchmark return was not provided for the one-year period.
For the three, five, 10 and 20 years ended June 30, the endowment pool returned an annualized net -1.7%, 11.5%, 8.7% and 8.2%, respectively, vs. their respective benchmarks of 3.1%, 9%, 7.1% and 7.2%.
The endowment pool had returned a net -2.3% for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023.
As of June 30, the endowment pool had an actual asset allocation of 57.9% private capital, 19.4% global equities, 9.5% real assets, 7.9% cash and fixed income, and 5.3% absolute-return strategies.
The median return among the 56 college and university endowments tracked by Pensions & Investments as of Dec. 10 is 9.8%.
