Washington and Lee University's $1.6 billion investment pool of endowment assets returned a net 36% for the fiscal year ended June 30, confirmed university spokeswoman Drewry Sackett.
For the 10 years ended June 30, the Lexington, Va.-based university's endowment returned an annualized net 9.2%.
The endowment had returned a net 3.2% for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020.
Benchmark information and annualized three- and five-year returns were not immediately available. Ms. Sackett said the university does not disclose returns by asset class.
As of June 30, the actual allocation was 41% equities, 29% private equity, 13% real estate, 12% fixed income and 5% cash.
