Vanderbilt University's $10.3 billion endowment returned a net 9.2% for the fiscal year ended June 30, according to a financial report on the Nashville, Tenn.-based university's website.
For the five years ended June 30, the endowment returned an annualized net 9.9%, according to the report.
The endowment had returned a net -2% for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023.
For the most recent fiscal year, the endowment’s return fell just short of the median return of 9.6% among the 41 college and university endowments whose returns for the period have been tracked by Pensions & Investments as of Nov. 6.
The report did not provide specific returns by asset class.
As of June 30, the endowment’s actual allocation was 36% private capital, 20% hedged strategies, 18% global equities, 9% fixed income, 6% natural resources, 4% cash and cash equivalents, 3% real estate, and 2% each commodities and public real estate.
