University of Illinois Foundation's $1.9 billion endowment pool returned a net -2.5% for the fiscal year ended June 30.
The endowment pool's return fell short of the policy benchmark of 0.1%, according to an investment report on the Urbana-based foundation's website.
For the three, five and 10 years ended June 30, the endowment pool returned an annualized net 2.8%, 4.1% and 7.2%, respectively, below the respective benchmarks of 4.5%, 4.8% and 8%.
The endowment pool returned a net 2.6% for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2019.
A breakout of asset class returns was not provided. The endowment pool had an asset allocation of 60% global equity, 22% macro risk hedges and 18% global diversifying strategies as of June 30.
Foundation spokeswoman Sue Johnson could not be immediately reached to provide further information.
