Mark Baumgartner was named CEO and chief investment officer of the University of Florida Investment Corp., effective Jan. 1.
UFICO oversees the investment management of more than $6 billion in university assets, including the University of Florida Foundation's $2.3 billion endowment pool.
Baumgartner will replace William Reeser, who has served as CEO and CIO since 2014 and will be retiring at the end of 2024, an Oct. 30 news release said.
Baumgartner was previously CIO of Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio, wife Barbara and his family’s Dalio Family Office, which he joined in late 2023 after nearly three years as CIO of New York-based Carnegie Corp.’s $4.2 billion endowment.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to my hometown to serve my undergraduate alma mater and look forward to supporting the incredible growth trajectory the University of Florida has been on for many years to come,” said Baumgartner in the news release.
