Michael Pia was named chief investment officer of Texas A&M Foundation, College Station, foundation spokeswoman Dunae Reader confirmed in an email.
He replaced Ben Wall, who left in October to join RoseRock Capital Group as CIO.
Mr. Pia will oversee the university's $1.8 billion foundation. He reports to Tyson Voelkel, the foundation’s president and CEO.
Mr. Pia was managing director of strategic partnerships and research for the $167.2 billion Texas Teacher Retirement System, Austin. TRS CIO Jase Auby confirmed in an email that the strategic partnerships and research team will be managed on a team basis going forward.
