Chun Lai was named chief investment officer of the $4.4 billion Rockefeller Foundation.
Mr. Lai, currently deputy CIO, will take on the role before the end of the year following the retirement of current CIO Donna Dean, spokeswoman Laura Kline said in an email.
Ms. Dean has been CIO since 2001 and joined the foundation as director of investments in 1995.
Doug Coyle, currently a managing director with the foundation, will replace Mr. Lai as deputy CIO, Ms. Kline said.
