Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Mass., is conducting a search for its first CIO, according to a job listing provided by college spokeswoman Christian Feuerstein.
Executive recruiting firm Fraser Keating Associates is conducting the search.
The CIO will be responsible for managing the college's $780 million endowment and generating 25% of the college's annual operating revenue. The CIO will work closely with the board's investment committee and report directly to the president.
The endowment has historically been managed by the investment committee, with the vice president for finance and administration and treasurer responsible for overseeing investment accounting functions.
"With the steady increase in assets and the complexity of the investment strategies, the board of trustees has decided to create the role of chief investment officer and to form a dedicated investment office to be located preferably in Boston," the job listing said.
The endowment has an allocation of 40% to equities, 25% private equity, 15% venture capital, and 10% each to fixed income and real assets.
