John A. Barker was named chief investment officer of the $4.3 billion Kresge Foundation, Troy, Mich., effective June 2022.
He will replace Robert J. Manilla, who will be retiring at that time, confirmed foundation spokeswoman Jennifer Kulczycki.
Mr. Barker, previously a managing director, is also immediately taking on the temporary title of deputy CIO, Ms. Kulczycki said.
Venus B. Phillips, previously an investment director for the foundation focusing on private markets, is taking on Mr. Barker’s title as managing director.
The news release notes the foundation this fall will begin a national search to find a replacement for Ms. Phillips’ investment director position.
