T. Britton Harris IV was appointed acting chief executive officer of the $56.7 billion Austin-based Texas Permanent School Fund Corp.
He will temporarily serve in the position while a nationwide search is undertaken for a permanent replacement for the role, said a news release Thursday.
Mr. Harris replaces Holland Timmins, the fund's previous chief investment officer and CEO, who recently retired, the news release said.
On June 30, Mr. Harris left his roles as president and CEO of the $68 billion University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Co., Austin.
"Industry leaders acknowledge that Harris has a stunning record as a transformational leader in both the industry and across many different companies and types of funds," said Tom Maynard, board chairman of the permanent fund, in the release.
