Brandeis University is seeking a director of investments and an associate director, investments, according to postings on the Waltham, Mass.-based university's website.
The university's Boston-based office of investment management, which oversees the school's $1.3 billion endowment, is seeking a new investments director to replace Deborah Shufrin, who left Brandeis to become chief investment officer at Colby College in April. The associate director position is new. The new director of investments will join Tarek Saghir in that role. Mr. Saghir started earlier this year.
Nicholas A. Warren, CIO at Brandeis, said in an email that the investment office is looking to expand to a staff of seven from five. It is not using an executive recruiting firm.
Qualifications for the director of investments position include "8-20 years of related work experience, 5 years of investment experience" as well as an advanced degree, such as an "MBA, JD, or an advanced degree in the fields of science, or equivalent work experience," the posting said.
For the associate director position, the university is also asking that candidates have an advanced degree "or equivalent work experience," plus at least "4-10 years of related work experience, investment experience a plus."
Candidates wishing to apply for the director or associate director positions can do so online.
Mr. Warren said he expects the searches to take between three and nine months.
