Allison Thacker, president of Rice Management Co. and chief investment officer of Rice University, Houston, is stepping down effective Sept. 30.
The Houston-based university announced Thacker’s departure in a Sept. 11 news release. John Lawrence, deputy CIO, will serve as interim CIO upon her departure as the university begins a nationwide search for a replacement.
Thacker, an alumna of Rice University, will serve as a special adviser during the search for her replacement. She has served as the university’s CIO since 2011.
“Serving as the chief investment officer at my alma mater has been the honor of a lifetime,” said Thacker in the news release. “My deep loyalty to Rice and its mission has been my driving force. I am immensely proud of the endowment's performance, which has not only strengthened our financial foundation but also supported the success of countless students. As I step down, I carry with me the satisfaction of knowing that our efforts have made a meaningful impact on the university I hold so dear.”
Rice Management Co. oversees the university’s $7.2 billion endowment.
