Sean Olesen has joined the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation as managing director for investments, according to the New York-based organization’s website.
Olesen’s duties include overseeing portfolio construction, asset allocation strategy and fund manager selection for the foundation’s $2 billion endowment.
His position was previously held by William Maslovsky, who became the foundation’s chief investment officer on Sept. 18. Maslovsky succeeded Elizabeth Hewitt, who left to serve as CIO at Miras Investments.
Sloan did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
Prior to joining Sloan, Olesen worked at Cornell University as an investment director for the Ivy League school’s $10.7 billion endowment. He left Cornell’s New York-based investment office on Feb. 7, a spokesperson for the university confirmed in an email and did not comment regarding a replacement for Olesen.
