Marta Norton, Morningstar’s former chief investment officer for the Americas, will join Empower to assume a new position as chief investment strategist, Empower announced in a news release June 3.
She will join the firm June 17 and report to Jonathan Kreider, executive vice president and head of Empower Investments, the company’s asset management unit.
Norton will work with Empower Investments to provide macroeconomic and investing commentary, thought leadership and market analysis. She will work closely with business teams to share perspectives with the company’s client base, the financial adviser community and the firm’s investment and client teams. She will also provide public commentary on broad trends, economic factors and events affecting markets, the news release said.
Norton was previously with Morningstar, where she most recently was chief investment officer for the Americas. She held a series of progressively senior leadership positions during her 18-year career there. Philip Straehl, a longtime Morningstar veteran, will replace Norton, the company announced June 3.
Prior to Morningstar, Norton worked at LECG and the Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington.
