Benjamin Thomason has joined Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America to lead the defined-contribution distribution team, the life insurer announced in a news release on June 4.
Thomason replaces Mike De Feo who is no longer with the company, an Allianz spokeswoman said.
While the position is not new, the scope of the position has changed to align with business needs and represents the company’s commitment to guaranteed lifetime-income products for employer-sponsored workplace retirement plans, she said.
Thomason will be responsible for the distribution strategy, business development and distributor relationship of Allianz’s defined contribution business.
Thomason previously led sales at iJoin, a fintech service provider for retirement plan recordkeepers. Prior to iJoin, Thomason worked at Vestwell Holdings and Goldman Sachs.
iJoin will not be replacing Thomason’s position as it recently hired a chief revenue officer, a newly created role with broader responsibilities than that of leading sales, an iJoin spokesman said.
“Ben is an extraordinary talent, and the iJoin team is excited that he is taking on a senior leadership role at Allianz,” he said.
