Mark Calnan was named head of investments for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Willis Towers Watson, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Calnan, who was head of specialist solutions at the firm, replaced Ed Francis, effective at the end of April. Mr. Francis moved to a newly created role as senior investment adviser, the spokeswoman said. After seven years as head of investments for EMEA, he now wants to focus on client relations, she added.
Mr. Calnan, who retained his previous responsibilities, leads the global team focused on growing and overseeing the specialist investments business. He reports to Chris Ford, global head of investments.
"Mark has been instrumental in the development of the investment business in recent years, and in leading our strategic initiatives. In his time with Willis Towers Watson he has cultivated a wide breadth of experience which stands him in good stead in his new role. We are confident that his unrivalled energy and passion will enable the business to further grow and develop in the EMEA region, and I look forward to working with him as part of our global leadership team," Mr. Ford said in a news release.
