Michael Archer was named head of Willis Towers Watson's North American retirement business and co-head of its global retirement business, both effective Jan. 1.
Mr. Archer will replace Bill Gulliver in both roles. Mr. Gulliver will assist in the transition of his roles after Jan. 1 and will retire sometime during 2020, a spokesman said.
Mr. Archer will lead the global retirement business alongside U.K.-based John Ball and will report to Julie Gerbauer, global head of human capital and benefits.
He is based in Philadelphia and currently head of the growth leadership team in North America.
Willis Towers Watson's retirement business includes defined benefit plan administration and outsourcing, strategy and design, actuarial services and support, risk management, including pension risk transfer services, and governance and compliance strategies.
