Declan Canavan was named commercial director and managing director at asset management consultant MJ Hudson, a spokesman said.
The position is new. Mr. Canavan is responsible for business development. Mr. Canavan had been a managing director at J.P. Morgan Asset Management and head of alternative investment strategies for the Europe, Middle East and Africa. A J.P. Morgan spokeswoman could not be reached to comment about a replacement.
Mike Booth was also named partner, regulatory solutions, a new position. Mr. Booth previously worked at Deloitte and Eversheds.
Peter MacGuire was appointed director-U.S., a new position responsible for opening MJ Hudson's first dedicated North American office in New York. He will assist with U.K. and continental European clients needing a representative in the U.S. for fundraising or other related activities.
"(Mr. Canavan's) experience and relationships will help us to provide our expertise to even more firms; adding (Mr. Booth's) regulatory skills allows us to add direct value to clients in an increasingly changeable environment; and, whilst we already have clients and staff in North America, our New York office will give our transatlantic business activities more focus and support," CEO Matthew Hudson said in a news release.
