Investment Officer/Senior Investment Officer
The Kern County Employees’ Retirement Association (KCERA) is seeking an exceptionally talented and high-performing individual to fill the Investment Officer/Senior Investment Officer position. This individual will work closely with the Chief Investment Officer in managing approximately $5.3 billion in assets. The fund is a highly complex and diversified portfolio that supports the defined benefit plan. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team.
This is a generalist investment position, and the Investment Officer/Senior Investment Officer will support a broad range of investment initiatives including, but not limited to, investment manager due diligence, investment structuring, asset allocation, rebalancing, risk management, and training/mentoring junior staff. The Investment Officer/Senior Investment Officer will work with both traditional and alternative investments, including equities, fixed income, commodities, hedge funds, real estate, and private markets. The Investment Officer/Senior Investment Officer will support the Chief Investment Officer in implementing key initiatives for the KCERA investment program.

Salary (Paid Bi-Weekly):
Retirement Investment Officer: $3,812.61 - $4,556.42
Senior Retirement Investment Officer: $4,539.76 - $5,425.43
Examinations:
Appraisal (100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and rating of the application. Should an oral exam be necessary, the oral exam will be weighted 100%. Applicants must attain at least 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards:
Retirement Investment Officer:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a closely related field AND five (5) years of related work experience in a defined benefit retirement fund, investment consulting, investment management, or financial services. Possession of a master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in finance and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation are desirable.
Senior Retirement Investment Officer:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a closely related field AND eight (8) years of related work experience in a defined benefit retirement fund, investment consulting, investment management, or financial services. Possession of a master's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in finance and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation are desirable.
