Job Description and Duties
The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking an experienced individual to work as a Portfolio Manager in Investment Services.
Investment Services is comprised of the following business areas in the Investment Branch: Operations, Performance, Compliance, and Administration. Investment Services’ primary function is to provide middle-office operational, performance and compliance support for internal and external portfolio activities, and by partnering with the asset classes to align business services for the successful implementation of the Investment Policy and Management Plan.
Under the general direction of the Director of Investment Services, the Head of Investment Data Solutions is responsible for the oversight, management, and direction on all aspects of investment data and systems solution for the Investment Portfolio. The incumbent is responsible for leading the efforts to develop and optimize the use of investment data, advanced analytics solutions, and innovative investment systems to enable business growth, process automation and innovation.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Experience evaluating investment data and system programs while developing and implementing technical solutions for business needs
- Ability to develop, manage and implement multiple projects across different business areas
- Ability to lead in a high-performing culture by cultivating a technical vision and empowering employees to translate that vision into action
- Ability to effectively communicate technological information to a non-technical audience
- Ability to communicate and consult with clients and stakeholders to develop appropriate solutions
- Ability to provide program oversight to ensure efficiency while managing risks
- Ability to develop and present recommendations to executive leadership
This position is eligible for incentive compensation and has a maximum incentive opportunity of 125% of base salary.
An incumbent who possesses a professional certification in one of the following designations: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analysts (CAIA) may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential. Only one 5% base pay differential is eligible regardless of the number of certifications.
The ideal candidate will be results oriented with program management experience, and experience working with Investment data and analytics systems.
