Angelo Calvitto was named head of Asia-Pacific for Northern Trust's asset-servicing business.
Mr. Calvitto replaces William Mak, who is retiring from the company after 10 years at the helm.
Mr. Calvitto, from his base in Melbourne where he was country head for Northern Trust in Australia, will "drive the growth and development of Northern Trust's asset-servicing business serving institutional clients across central banks, sovereign wealth funds, public pension funds, government agencies, investment management firms, insurance companies and other large sophisticated global institutions," according to a news release.
A spokeswoman for Northern Trust said there is nothing to announce at this point regarding plans to fill the head of Australia role.
