Leonique van Houwelingen was named EMEA head of strategic growth and regional head of client coverage for BNY Mellon's asset servicing business.
The role is new and effective July 16, a spokeswoman confirmed.
Ms. van Houwelingen will also be a non-executive director of BNY Mellon's European bank, Bank of New York Mellon SA/NV, subject to regulatory approval.
BNY Mellon is the world's largest custodian bank, with $41.7 trillion in assets under custody as of March 31.
Ms. van Houwelingen was CEO of BNY Mellon's European bank since 2018. She will be replaced by Bjorn Storim, head of Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Central and Eastern Europe. He will continue to support the regional teams, the spokeswoman said. The European bank works with money managers, pension funds and other entities, offering services, including clearing and collateral management.
