Bruce Zimmerman was named chief investment officer of the Dalio Family Office and the Dalio Foundation Inc., also known as Dalio Philanthropies, founded by Raymond T. Dalio, co-founder and co-chief investment officer of Bridgewater Associates.
Ryan FitzGibbon, a Bridgewater spokeswoman, confirmed Mr. Zimmerman's appointment in an email but declined to comment further.
Mr. Zimmerman declined to comment when reached by email.
Mr. Zimmerman resigned from his position as CEO and chief investment officer of University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Co., in October 2016. He was replaced in August 2017 by T. Britton Harris IV, formerly the CIO of Texas Teacher Retirement System. Both funds are based in Austin.
UTIMCO manages $46.1 billion in endowment and operating funds for the UT system, while Texas Teachers has $145.4 billion in defined benefit plan assets.
Dalio Philanthropies had assets of $799 million as of Dec. 31, 2016. Bridgewater manages about $160 billion in alternative investments. The size of the Dalio Family Office could not be learned. Entities are located in Westport, Conn.
