Daniel P. Hanson was named chief investment officer at Waddell & Reed Financial, the parent company of Ivy Investment Management, the company announced Wednesday.
Mr. Hanson assumed his new role from CEO Philip J. Sanders, who had served as CIO since 2011, a news release said.
Mr. Hanson will lead Waddell & Reed's asset management subsidiary Ivy and will also join the company's executive leadership team, reporting to Mr. Sanders. Ivy had $67.8 billion in assets under management, as of Dec. 31, according to its more recent Form ADV filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
"First and foremost, Dan is a firm believer in fundamental active management and has a long track record of strong investment performance," Mr. Sanders said in the news release.
"Dan's approach to (environmental, social and governance) integration is a natural complement to our culture and heritage of identifying strong, sustainable business models. Dan's extensive experience in product development, and commitment to proprietary research and sustainable investing, align with our strategic plans and our values-based culture," Mr. Sanders added.
Mr. Hanson was head of impact investing at JANA Partners. JANA did not immediately respond regarding his replacement.
