Sonja Laud was named CIO at Legal & General Investment Management, subject to regulatory approvals, a spokeswoman said.
Ms. Laud replaces Anton Eser, who has been CIO since 2017 and has worked for Legal & General for the past 13 years in other roles, including as head of fixed income. Mr. Eser is returning to South Africa for family reasons, the spokeswoman said.
"He has also acknowledged his desire to return to a more hands-on investing role with a particular focus on environmental, social and governance and social impact investing in Africa," the spokeswoman added.
Ms. Laud joined LGIM in January 2019 as deputy CIO from Fidelity International, where she was head of equity. Additional details of Ms. Laud's replacement were not available.
As of Dec. 31, LGIM had £1.015 trillion ($1.34 trillion) in assets under management.
