Long-only traditional asset managers reported $22.8 billion in net outflows for the first quarter and net outflows of $499 billion over the past four quarters, said eVestment's quarterly Traditional Asset Flows Report.
By asset class, net institutional outflows for global equity strategies were $86.4 billion in for the first quarter, compared with $145.8 billion during the fourth quarter and net outflows of $153.6 billion for the first quarter of 2018.
Global institutional fixed-income managers, on the other hand, reported net inflows of $22.6 billion in the most recent quarter vs. net outflows of $145.7 billion for the previous quarter and net inflows of $130.5 billion for the same period a year ago.
While passive equity strategies saw $31.1 billion in net inflows during the quarter, active strategies had $117.5 billion in net outflows for the period.
Long-only asset managers reported a total of $26.8 trillion in assets under management to eVestment for the first quarter.
