Erik Goris was named CIO of the General Pension Fund of Aruba, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Goris assumes the role effective June 1, taking over from Sheila van Veen, CEO and chairwoman of the board of the €1.5 billion ($1.7 billion) fund, who served as CIO on an interim basis. Further details could not be learned.
Mr. Goris will be responsible for the asset management and the fund's international and local investment portfolio, subject to an approval by the Central Bank of Aruba.
"Mr. Goris has the right financial expertise and managerial background gained in various roles with an excellent track record," Ms. van Veen said in a news release. "With his extensive experience earned in the financial world and as a board member of a pension fund, he knows both sides of our professional arena very well."
Mr. Goris was previously chairman of Volo pensioen, PGGM's defined contribution plan. Johan van der Tas replaced Mr. Goris as chairman at Volo, a PGGM spokesman said.
