Chia Chin Ping left his position as MSCI's head of Asia-Pacific research after 18 years with the organization to pursue new opportunities, a spokeswoman confirmed.
The spokeswoman said Sebastien Lieblich, managing director and global head of research, will serve as interim head of Asia-Pacific research. She didn't immediately respond when asked whether a search for a permanent replacement has begun.
Mr. Chia couldn't immediately be reached for details regarding his immediate plans.
The MSCI veteran played a key role in the process that resulted in the initial inclusion last year of China's A-shares markets in MSCI's benchmark indexes, including its widely followed global emerging markets index.
