Edward G. Fisher III was named co-chief investment officer and head of liquid markets at alternative money manager Mariner Investment Group, a spokeswoman confirmed in an email.
Mr. Fisher, who will join the firm in August, will work alongside founder and partner William J. Michaelcheck, who is currently the sole CIO. Mr. Michaelcheck will also continue as lead portfolio manager of the firm's flagship hedge fund.
Mr. Fisher's title of head of liquid markets is new, the spokeswoman said.
Mr. Fisher was previously managing director at Bank of New York Mellon and global head of equity and fixed-income trading, BNY Mellon spokesman Peter J. Madigan said. He left the firm Monday and a decision on his replacement has yet to be determined.
Mariner Investment Group has about $9 billion in assets under management.
