Blackstone Group has taken a passive minority stake in private equity firm Marlin Equity Partners, according to a news release Thursday.
The investment was made by Blackstone's strategic capital group, a part of Blackstone Alternative Asset Management specializing in making minority investments in alternative investment managers.
Terms of the deal and the size of the minority interest were not disclosed. Blackstone spokeswoman Paula Chirhart declined comment.
Marlin Equity, which has about $6.7 billion in assets under management, will use the capital to expand its global investment platform and "leverage the global resources and capabilities of Blackstone," the news release said.
Marlin Equity Partners' spokesman Peter Spasov could not immediately be reached for comment.
