Sharmila Chatterjee Kassam joined Funston Advisory Services, as a senior consultant, Managing Partner Frederick "Rick" Funston confirmed in an email.
She is advising pension funds on fiduciary matters, the firm's specialty consulting practice; she started on Monday.
Ms. Kassam had been deputy chief investment officer of the $29.6 billion Texas Employees Retirement System, Austin. She left on May 9, spokesman Mary Jane Wardlow said in an email, and the position is still is "in transition," Ms. Wardlow said.
