Mick Sweeney was named CEO of PineBridge Investments Ireland, following the firm obtaining additional Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II permissions for its Irish entity, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.
The position is new. Mr. Sweeney is based in Dublin and reports to Klaus Schuster, head of Europe.
Mr. Sweeney is responsible for governance in support of the management company and is PineBridge's main contact with the Irish central bank. Mr. Sweeney also drives new business lead generation and develops relationships with clients based in Ireland.
"Having led some of the biggest asset management and financial services companies in Ireland, (Mr. Sweeney) brings the highest caliber of leadership to our firm," Mr. Schuster said in a news release.
Mr. Sweeney was most recently CEO of wealth management at Bank of Ireland.
PineBridge managed $93.4 billion in assets as of March 31.
