Adam S. Aderton was named co-chief of the Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement division's asset management unit Thursday. He succeeds Anthony Kelly, who left in November.
The asset management unit focuses on misconduct by investment advisers, investment companies and private funds. Mr. Aderton has been with the unit since its inception in 2010 and has brought or supervised numerous enforcement actions.
"Adam is a highly respected leader and his broad experience and strong judgment are a tremendous asset," enforcement co-director Stephanie Avakian said in a statement.
Co-director Steven Peikin said in the same statement that he is confident that Mr. Aderton will "continue to deliver results for investors harmed by asset manager misconduct."
