St. Louis Firefighters' Retirement Plan hired Wellington Management to run about $4 million in active emerging markets equities, said Janice Fairless, human resources specialist.
The $77 million pension fund issued an RFP in September after the board decided to move its emerging markets equity portfolio to active from passive management. The passive manager, Vanguard Group, was invited to bid but did not, Ms. Fairless said. AQR Capital Management and Axiom International Investors were the other finalists.
Investment consultant Dahab Associates assisted.
