Pooja Goyal will join Carlyle Group as a partner and head of its renewable and sustainable energy team, spokeswoman Elizabeth Gill said in an email.
It is a new position.
Ms. Goya will start in July and be based in New York. She will lead a team that will invest globally in a portfolio of renewable and sustainable investments.
Carlyle has $27 billion in global energy investments.
Ms. Goyal had been a managing director and head of the alternative energy investing group at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Patrick Scanlan, a Goldman Sachs spokesman, could not be immediately reached by press time seeking information on her replacement.
