San Francisco City & County Employees' Retirement System announced investments or commitments totaling up to $570 million in a report from CIO William J. Coaker Jr. for the upcoming board meeting Wednesday.
The $25.1 billion pension fund invested $250 million in Marshall Wace TOPS World Equities (U.S.) Fund. It is the pension fund's first investment with the long/short equity manager. SFERS expects to invest an additional $250 million later this year when additional capacity is available. The pension fund classified the investment as a global public equity active extension within its public equities portfolio.
As of March 31, the actual allocation to public equities was 34.2%.
For its private equity portfolio, SFERS committed $50 million to C-Bridge Healthcare Fund IV, a buyout fund managed by C-Bridge Capital. It is the pension fund's first commitment to C-Bridge. The pension fund also committed $20 million to Versant Vantage I, a venture capital fund managed by Versant Ventures. SFERS previously committed $35 million to Versant Venture Capital VII in 2018.
As of March 31, the actual allocation to private equity was 19.6%.
